DAVID Holdsworth today declared he is delighted with his new-look Stags strike force.

The capture of Kyle Perry means four main hitmen are at the Mansfield boss' disposal – Daryl Clare, Rob Duffy and Jake Speight completing the set.

Holdsworth is aware that other club's front players may attract more publicity because of their reputation or price.

But he feels there is enough ammunition at Field Mill to serve Mansfield well in their push for Blue Square Premier success.

Last season no Stags player reached double figures.

"There are probably bigger names out there, but they are very expensive and we have got an economic structure here that we want to follow," said Holdsworth.

"I'm delighted with my striking options. We have got the have a balance of goalscoring and work rate.

"Kyle has just joined us and I think he will complement all the other strikers well and I'm very pleased with the quality we have.

"We have a lot of possible variations and that will prove its worth over the course of the season."

New recruit Perry, 23 – who has played for sides including Walsall, Telford United, Chasetown and Port Vale – stands 6ft 4ins tall.

But Holdsworth has warned fans not to pigeon-hole him as a target man, saying the Birmingham-born can offer more.

He became aware of Perry's talent after seeing him score a hat-trick against the Stags in a reserve game.

Holdsworth said: "He gives us a presence, height and strength – and he also gives us flexibility.

"What people mustn't read into him is that he is just a target man because of his height.

"Kyle can do that job, but he can also play on the left side of three, his work rate is very good and he has very high standards.

"He might not have a good scoring record in the league, but he has scored an abundance of goals at non-league level."

"The boy gives me more options, is the right age and is another good player to add to the squad.
