Hockley is one of the coolest places in Britain, says poll
Hockley in Nottingham has been ranked among the top 30 coolest places to live in Britain.
A poll conducted by The Times rates the city-centre area as the 15th coolest place to live in Britain - it is placed just behind Jesmond in Newcastle and one above Whitstable in Kent.

Hockley boasts a range of independents
The survey said: "Slap in the city centre beside the swish Lace Market apartments, Hockley is a mecca for cool types.
"Besides its art galleries, New Age outlets and cafe culture, the beating heart of Hockley is the Broadway cinema, which hosts regular festivals."

“Err, I think that is actually Goose Gate in the picture, Hockley is the short bit going on to Parliament St. In my youth my Mum, who lived on the Promanade, by Cambell Grove, had friends with a shop on Hockley. Her Dad was Tom Whitby who ran a Chrabanc in Snienton. He used Hockley as a pick up and drop off point. Is it still part of Snienton, I wonder?”
