Help us to back law on hunting
THE hunting season has just begun and while in an ideal world this would mean hunts are preparing for a season of trail and drag hunting we know that in many cases the reality is very different.
Wild animals will suffer in their masses as some hunts take to the field hunting as they traditionally did before the Hunting Act. Sadly a number of hunts believe they are above the law and will continue to chase and kill purely for sport.
-

Season: Hunting is about to start up once again.
However, those who put two fingers up to the law will be brought to justice, as the figures testify. There is an average of one conviction under the Hunting Act every fortnight and with around 140 prosecutions under the Act the law is certainly working.
Our professional observers will be out in force this season, monitoring the activities of hunts which are believed to be breaking the law and breaching legislation. In order to be more efficient we need information as to where hunts are hunting, where they are meeting and when they're going out.
We would urge them to pass such information on to the League Against Cruel Sports so we can assist the police in enforcing the law. Our Hunt Crimewatch number is 01483 524250.

“I regularly put food out at night for a fox who knows where to look for it. He takes the same route almost every night, crossing the road to the same gap in hedges. On rare occassions he is accompanied by his partner. Their obvious awareness and appreciation of the food is a delight to me. Hunting these animals with hounds is in my view, despicable behaviour, exacerbated by it's member's description of it as " sport ". Re: comment from Bettie. My revulsion of hounds tearing a live animal apart has no connection whatsoever with my politcal views.”

“A very creative use of the statistics by the letter writer.
Between 2005 and 2009, there were 88 successful convictions under the Hunting Act - about one every three weeks rather than the one per fortnight quoted. Of those 88 convictions, only five involved people with any connection to hunts - the remainder are attributable to poaching. ANY hunting without the permission of the landowner is illegal under the Hunting Act, including the hunting of rats.”

“there may well be a free vote in the commons on repealing the hunting act, however I can't see it being passed. The liberals will vote against repeal, as will labour and probably quite a few conservatives”

“The good news is that the Liberal and Conservative coalition will allow a vote in Parliament to change the law and bring back fox hunting. These socialist, animal rights people may not like this but the people have spoken.”

“I, too, back this campaign.
I backed the Hunting Act when it first came in.
And I think it is shameful that the Con Dem Nation want to revisit this.”

“Good luck in your campaign Mr Batchelor, I support you all the way. Apart from the legal aspects, I've never understood how ripping defenceless animals to bits is conceived as pleasure. How I would love to see the roles reversed, and watch these sadistic, upper class cretins chased to exhaustion.”
