Was that good enough for you, guys? I'm still buzzing about my 69-second KO of Rory Markham at UFC 95 in front of more than 13,000 people in London's O2 Arena.

This is undoubtedly the biggest win of my career and on the biggest stage I've ever performed on.

A few American writers commentated that an "unknown Brit" shouldn't have been in the co-main event spot at UFC 95 before the fight. Well, let's say they changed their tune after I landed a left-hook counter to Markham's temple!

I was very confident backstage. I had whipped myself into the best shape of my life. I was ready but there were nerves. MMA is a crazy sport where anything can happen, and Markham is a massive puncher.

Walking out to the Octagon, the crowd were right behind me. It is an amazing feeling to look into the eyes of thousands of fans and know they are trusting you to represent them. And I was determined not to let them down.

Like I expected, I was faster than Markham. I kicked him in his leg to start off and he didn't react in a way which suggested he could counter my speed. Then he reached after me with a punch and I countered him with a big punch to the nose. We were 30 seconds in, but he was already bleeding.

He was desperate to land with one of his haymakers and committed to a wild right hand. I slipped it and landed a big left hook flush.

The American mocked my punching power in the lead-in and it was very satisfying to prove that I can end a fight with one-shot.

I was just so happy to have put on such an impressive performance in England, and in front of an American television audience the likes of which never tuned in to Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe. It was huge stage for me, and a huge win, and it takes my career to a whole new level.

I'm going to do one more TV appearance on "Ultimate Talk" on Setanta News at 7pm tonight – unless it snows again, of course – and then I fly to LA to see my girlfriend.

Finally, I want to thank everyone who has helped me get to this stage: My team, my sponsors, my family and friends, the UFC, the media who helped get my name out there and provided me with platforms like this column.

Mostly, though, I want to thank the fans. Believe me, I don't take your support for granted and I hope I continue to represent you well next time.
