MICK Hudson topped the Nigel Lale League at the Janson Fishery with a cracking 129-15.

Despite windy conditions, weights were better than expected in some areas.

Lale, on peg 9, took second spot with 58-12, while Mick Shalloe was third with 50-10 from peg 36.

Alan Houghton again made the most of conditions in the weekly Costcutter, taking an impressive 100-7 to the scales.

Local tackle dealer Gerry Woodcock was a distant second with 58-1, while Ray Redwood took third with 55-6 from peg 4.

Weights generally were better than expected considering the lake was still covered in ice the day before and the aerators had been on.

Sunday's Open at Lakeview produced a close finish. Andy Searle took the honours with 56-3 at Serpent 23, from Gary Cox, who weighed 55-2 at Canal 6.

John Cooke won the veterans' match with 22-12 at Serpent 17. He fished pole and bread punch and maggot down the track and across to the far shelf.

Ian Foulds was second with 16-2 of carp to 5lb on pole and pellet fished across to far shelf at Stream 1. He was one of the anglers troubled by floating ice.

Ray Redwood took third with 14-12 at Serpent 10. He fished pellet down the track for carp to 4lb, but lost larger fish that could have won him the match.

John Upton topped Saturday's match with a level 40lb of small carp at Harbour 14. He fished pole and maggot to the far shelf and had the added bonus of winning the Golden Peg.

John Cooke was runner-up with 32-4 of carp on pole, pellet and maggot to the bottom far shelf at Canal 19.

Roger Holmes was third with 31-12 on pellet to the far shelf at Canal 29. He was doing well with two hours to go, until a gust of wind snapped his pole.

Peg One's Arnie Payling won the Teams of Four Silverfish League at Hallcroft. He took 29-10 of silvers, which included skimmers to 2lb, on pole, caster and maggot at Bridge Outer 16.

Chris Greensides, on Moat Island 40, was second with 26-9 of skimmers on feeder and maggot.

Peg One were top team on the day with six points, from Little John Bandits with eight.

Andy Kinder, on Moat Island 38, took third spot with 21-9 of skimmers and roach on the pole, bloodworm and joker.

Pete Bagshaw was an easy winner of the veterans' match on Moat. He caught 54-2 of carp on pellet feeder and banded pellet at Island 70.

Mansfield's Pete Tatley was runner-up with 39-14 on the feeder towards the aerator at Island 61.

Retford's Barry Rance, on Island 64, fished a bomb to the far side for 36-6 of carp to 7lb.

Saturday's Winter League match on Moat Pool was won by Worksop's Dave Powell with 31-4, on corn and dead maggot, at Island 58.

The windy conditions made pole fishing difficult so most anglers opted for fishing the tip.

Workop's Steve Shepherd was runner-up with 26-2 of carp and skimmers on feeder and banded pellet at Outer 54.

Weights were encouraging in Sunday's Open, won by Worksop's Stuart Gray.

He weighed 56-6 on pellet feeder and hair-rigged corn at Reed 9. Graham Westwater, on Croft 25, fished banded pellet for 45-8.
