Grimsby boss Newell: Nothing wrong with second goal
GRIMSBY boss Mike Newell said it was right his side's second goal against Notts stood.
He insisted midfielder Danny Boshell was not offside when he latched onto Barry Conlon's through ball and drove past Kevin Pilkington.
Newell also said Magpies' keeper Kevin Pilkington was lucky not to be sent off after handling the ball outside his box at the end of the first half.
He said: "I can understand their frustration with our second goal but he (Boshell) was not offside.
"They must understand our frustration when a big decision went against us in the first half when the keeper (Pilkington) dropped it out of his box and picked it back up.
"It's a sending-off in the rule book and they didn't have another keeper on the bench so the whole game could have changed before half-time.
"The referee said Jean-Louis (Akpro) had impeded him but once he drops it outside the box the ball's in play. He picked it up quick enough so he didn't impede him that much.
"It was a bad decision but when you win 2-0 you don't care about that too much."

“Mr Harford please learn the "LAWS" of the game. A goalkeeper handling outside his area is not an automatic sending off offence only if its denys an "obvious" goal scoring opportunity. Similarly a foul by the last defender is only a sending off if it denys an obvious goalscoring opportunity”
