NOTTS trainer Charlie Lister was pipped at the post as rank outsider Kinda Ready produced a late surge to beat his dog Fear Zafonic to the Blue Square Greyhound Derby in an exciting finish.

Fear Zafonic, running from trap one, led from the start and looked like storming to victory until the 25-1 shot powered through the final bend to win by a neck.

Wise Thought at 5/2 was third, while 2-1 favourite Ballymac Ruso was fifth.

It was a bitter disappointment for connections of 3-1 shot Fear Zafonic, who had been delighted with a favourable inside draw as Lister looked to win his fifth Blue Riband event.

Winning trainer Mark Wallis, said: "I just cannot believe it.

"As it came off the last bend it just got better and better and better. I still didn't believe it until they announced it."
