BUSINESSES in Notts got advice about going green at an information event.

West Notts college renewable energy expert Jim Harvey gave firms tips on how to reduce their carbon footprint and demonstrated renewable energy products, such as small scale wind generation kits.

The college is a member of the East Midlands New Technology Initiative (NTI) Construction Network, which earlier this year won more than £500,000 of funding for projects aimed at encouraging the construction industry to use greener technologies.

Mr Harvey said: "The college is working closely with the construction industry to meet the challenges of the low-carbon economy.

"Our students are also learning about sustainability, which is equipping them with the knowledge to embrace the green agenda."

The East Midlands EXPO 2009 took place at Leicester City's Walkers Stadium on October 8.
