Georgian cottage among 22 auction lots
A GRADE II-LISTED Georgian cottage in Carlton-on-Trent is among 22 lots expected to fetch a total of £3m at auction this month.
Guide price for The Grey House, one of the largest properties in the village, is £130,000.
It is stuffed with period features, including sash windows, fireplaces and original quarry flooring in the entrance hall.
Simon Smith, of The County Property Auction, the auctioneering arm of JHWalter in Lincoln, said: "It is a really elegant looking place, rather like a mini rectory or hall and much grander than anything you would think of when talking about a cottage.
"I guess those Georgian Carlton gentry just had different standards!
"It hasn't got much in the way of land – just a small railed front garden – which is why it has a very reasonable guide price."
The auction is at the Bentley Hotel, Lincoln, at 3pm on April 29.
Another Notts lot expected to be one of the stars of the auction is Threshing Barn at Stokefields Farm, Elston.
It is a traditional red brick, two-storey building standing in four acres of land.
The site is being sold with planning consent for conversion to a large four-bedroomed house with workspace. The guide price for the lot is £375,000.
At the other end of the spectrum, the auction will give someone the opportunity to become a Notts landowner, at the knockdown price of just £1,500.
Lot 14 is various strips of land and and footpaths adjoining Catkin Way at Balderton.
