Remember remember the 5th of November - you'll find you will if you spent it at the Forest Recreation Ground's bonfire and fireworks display.

The memory of Guy Fawkes' plot to blow up the House of Parliament was commemorated in style as embers and fireworks lit up the Nottingham sky.

The annual display didn't fail to impress as families and friends, who arrived in their thousands, witnessed a dazzling display.

Onlookers packed out the Forest Rec on a night which was jam-packed with entertainment.

Several rides from Goose Fair returned to the ground, giving daredevils another chance to ride head-spinning attractions.

Local DJs from radio station Gem 106 - Sam and Amy - were also there to provide music and entertainment for the masses on a cold November night.

Harry Lawton , 64, from Mapperley, said: "The colours are incredible, there's just absolutely fantastic colour everywhere, but I'm rather glad I'm not on some of these rides because they look horrendous!

"This is the first time I've been down here for quite some time so I thought I'd visit for a change, and I'm glad I did because the bonfire's magnificent, the crowd's incredible and it's a good atmosphere.

"It's a great night for it."

Elaine Chapman, 47, from Arnold, also enjoyed the event. She said: "Oh I really enjoyed it, it was magical. We kept thinking that's the end and then it wasn't and then the finale was even better than we thought, it was spectacular."

Karen Hart, 33, from Kirkby in Ashfield, said the display was "breathtaking".

"I've been coming to see these fireworks nearly every year, all my life pretty much, and it's got better.

"It's a lot busier and you're a lot more squashed now but everything was fantastic."

People at the fireworks also took to Twitter after the event.

Beckie @Sneak_666, said: "Great fireworks at Forest Rec ground tonight #Nottinghamrocks."

Student Carrie Bater, @pcbater, said: "The fireworks were amazing! Sad that it's the last forest ones I'll see as a student :("
