Forest working around the clock on new signings
NOTTINGHAM Forest will work around the clock to bring in more signings in the near future, Billy Davies insists.
And a pair of full-backs remain the biggest priority for the Reds manager, with Spurs' Chris Gunter and Danny Fox of Coventry at the top of the list of targets.
Davies is determined that Forest will not start the new campaign without recognised full-backs, with Julian Bennett still facing a long-road to recovery following his knee injury and Gunter having returned to Spurs from his loan spell at the end of last season.
The manager does not like the prospect of asking players to fill-in in those positions, as Chris Cohen and Kelvin Wilson and later Garath McCleary did against Sporting Lisbon on Saturday.
And he says the club will be working hard to bring the players in they require.
"We are short in one or two areas still and we do have plenty of work to do," he said.
"There is no doubt about it, because we have players in the team who we do not want to fill those positions.
"We have to bring in players who can fill those gaps. We need the right people to play in the right areas.
"We hope to conclude one or two new signings over the next few weeks. Yesterday, two weeks ago – that is when we wanted to bring them in.
"At the minute we will keep playing the players in the positions that we need to and we will keep looking to bring the right players in.
"But there is no doubt that the clock is ticking, it is important to bring players in.
"Time is of the essence over the next week or so. We have to start to get more players in so that we can work on the shape of the side and get players playing in the right areas."
Davies believes it is vital for new players to be given the opportunity to bond with their new team-mates before the season kicks off and for Forest to make sure any fresh additions are at the required fitness level come August 8.
"It is great for team spirit, being able to get to know people. It is nice for new signings to get to know the rest of the squad, which is why the trip to Portugal is important," he said.
"There will be some difficult training sessions this week, the players know that.
"We will keep working on that but that is another reason why we have to realise that time is of the essence when it comes to bringing players into this squad.
"We need to get the players prepared and working in the units that will play together at the start of the season."
Davies today confirmed that, as reported in the Evening Post last week, Forest are in the hunt for Polish midfielder Radoslaw Majewski from Polonia Warsaw.
"He is a player we have been looking at for quite a while, we know all about him and his international background and what have you. We will see what happens," he added.

“barker went to the sheep! the cu** and on my comment i knew we would secure some of the targets at least if we upped our bids. gunter is ours and mckenna that's good business. and again we got them cheaper then the other clubs wanted. if we get fox we will be promotion contenders. BD has shown the forest players how they should be playing at this level and not how to get relegated. with the depth in the squad im looking forward to good times at the city ground.”

“Just tried to find it mikeyboy cheers but i couldnt. Oh well we will see soon enuf wont we. Good news to hear about agreeing fee for Paul Mckenna aswel dont ya think. Told ya things will look up. And before anyone starts slating me yes i do know we are after defenders but hes still a good addition to us. We will have to go the whole season next season playin in the oppositions half. The last defender sat on the half way line for the whole 46 games plus our amazing FA Cup run were going to have all the way to the quarters. The futures bright... The futures Red remember.”

“Redex. as i said dont worry we will have the players sorted. If they aint sorted by the start of the season then fair enuf but i still cant see BD not kicking everyones ass into shape and sorting the SH** panel out to get us the players he wants.
Mikeyboy... Where did you see that about the polish lad majewski. Can you put a link to it so i can see for my self.”
