Tudgay has made only two sub appearances for Forest this season and will relish the opportunity to secure regular first team football.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer and had not yet been offered fresh terms for a new deal at the City Ground.

He joined Forest on loan from Sheffield Wednesday in November 2010, before completing a permanent move in the following January.

And his move to Oakwell may now follow a similar path.

Tudgay was informed by then manager Steve McClaren that he had no future at the club at the start of last season, but ended up playing an important role in Forest's Championship survival after Steve Cotterill had taken over as boss.

“devon dave - im happy to laugh at his comments,he is a clown but you saying ignore him is feeding him as much as anybody replying to him. Relax and enjoy the fact that you support Forest and lumps like him are stuck with Direby (with nothing better to do than try to wind up there superior neighbours) .”

    “Ignore Snennyram!!

I welcome open discussion on this forum and will listen to the views of Derby fans who post here, no matter how misguided or deluded I think they are, but there is a difference between opposing fans on the wind up and sad little internet trolls, sitting at home with their trousers round their ankles! Snennyram posts on the Derby site claiming to be a Forest fan; you can tell thanks to his extremely limited verbiage and formatting skills; not to mention the repetition! So don't be goaded by him, there's no point! Skim over his pathetic barbs just as you skim over Mexicomart, or whatever the fool is calling himself these days...”

“Got a lot of respect for Tudgay, he's an honest player and I hope he does well in the future. Lets be honest though; if the owners plans for us are to gain promotion and then stay in the top flight, sometimes tough decisions need to be made regarding a player's ability. Even with all our respect for Marcus, is he really gonna make an impact for us in the top 6 of this division; or the Premier league? Regrettably, i don't think so. He came to us from Wednesday where he played in the bottom half of the championship, he played for us in the bottom half of the championship and is now looking at a move to Barnsley who are in a similar position.

Don't get me wrong, fair play to him; he'll have a good career, earn his £5,000 a week and retire a wealthy man; but I have to say, i think its a good decision by SoD to let him go. As to a 4th striker for us, either it'll be McGoldrick, Findlay, or maybe someone else in January; we'll have to see, but for the long term progression of the club under FFP; IMO, this is the right decision. So as far as the player is concerned, many thanks go to him for all his efforts last season, and I wish him every success over the coming years.”

“A good player and a non-moaner……..SOD may not have plans for him to be hear but in the past he's defo should his merit. Goodbye and the best of luck Marcus!

As far as a replacement goes, i'm guessing that either the owners have asked SOD to off-load players that aren't going to play 1st team ever again, or that we have someone/ a few strikers in mind come the January transfer window. Those are the only reasons i can think of!”

“Scored some vital goals last term, but he's out of contract so club are looking to get some money for him. In the old days he'd have been allowed to leave for nothing in the summer. Apparently looking into getting JJ for the rest of the season in January and Coppinger is off back to Donny.”
