Forest reject 'derisory' Newcastle bid for Perch
BILLY Davies today insisted James Perch is not for sale at any price, after revealing Nottingham Forest had rejected a 'derisory bid' from Newcastle for the player.
The Reds boss warned that the club are not prepared to listen to further offers for the defender or midfielder – and particularly not from one of their promotion rivals.

"They have made an offer for James, but it is a derisory offer and the bottom line is that he is not for sale anyway," said Davies.
"We are not interested in selling James at any price, particularly not to one of our rivals in the Championship.
"As I said, the offer was derisory, but it doesn't matter because he is not somebody we want to sell.
"We do not want to sell any of our players. We want to strengthen our squad, not weaken it."
Davies insists the versatile product of the City Ground academy is an important part of his future plans.
"James has not featured very much this season, but that is purely because he has been injured and, during the time he has been out, I have said all along that we have missed him. He is a vital member of this squad," he said.
"I guess we have got a few people worried."

“perch may not be able to get into the team at the moment, and you all know why. its not because he is a bad player, there are very few players could add or get into our midfield or defence at the moment.
we have been lucky so far with injuries ect... so far but he would be invalueable to us if we needed a versatile player to cover injuries.
perfect example is 'john o'shea' of man u. not a great player but why do you think ferguson thinks so highly of him. he's versatile and can play anywhere and can score the odd goal.”

“Martyn, I'm surprised youve still got the gall to slate Perch. If the managers of the top two teams in the division are fighting over him then surely he's quality. Another case of a defensive midfielder not getting the plaudits he deserves. Think McGovern. I guess it's only a matter of time before fans turn on McKenna and Moussi”

“Perch's best asset for us is his versatility. Do I think he's good enough to make our first choice XI now let alone if we stregthen?? Nope. But I wouldn't sell him if for nothing else I think it could disrupt team harmony. Alot of these lads grew up playing together. The offseason is when you sell players like James Perch but only if you can strengthen.”

“Lets leave Jimmy perch alone . . . he's probably our most versatile player, that sort of player is valuable regardless whether a first team regular or a squad player. Every player has their value, and BIg Billy has proved he knows more about a players value than most and if a player is needed - If Billy says we need him and he's worth more than £1m, then we need him and he's worth more than £1m”

if perch is good or poor at the game is something red fans seem to be split on !
but until we see who if anyone is coming in i personly think it would be foolish to show anyone the door ,
im preying for the moses rumour to come good though chris boyd would be a good en even if unrealistic !
whatever happens i agree with BDs comments that we are building & not dismantling a team here so BACK OFF CC !”
