NOTTINGHAM Forest can survive the loss of Chris Gunter, Billy Davies insisted today.

The defender will miss the next three games through suspension, after being found guilty of violent conduct during Sunday's visit of Leeds.

But Davies believes either Brendan Moloney or Luke Chambers can fill the void left by the Welsh international at Reading tomorrow – and potentially make the right back spot their own.

"Rules are rules and we have to deal with it," said Davies.

"But we have Moloney and we have Chambers – we have plenty of players who can play at right back.

"We will give them an opportunity.

"Chris fell into a trap (after being provoked), but rules are rules and we will get on with things.

"Rules are rules, you have to abide by them and deal with injuries and suspensions when they come along.

"Everyone else is fighting fit, there are not too many other injuries."

Cardiff City have been installed as the favourites for promotion by many, after they agreed to sign Craig Bellamy on loan from Manchester City.

"If you add the other signings they have made, in Jason Koumas and Seyi Olofinjana, with the quality that they have got as well, then they are making a big statement, aren't they?" said Davies.

"Because, let's be honest, the players we are talking about are not sitting on £5k a week.

"They are clearly top players with good experience. They are excellent signings for Cardiff, without doubt."

“with due respect mick, peterborough. i highly doubt that you have your finger on the pulse of the football world's heart, therefore, to claim that agents and players see us as unambitious is merely your opinion, which is worth very little when you consider the signings we have been linked to. fair point they are not here, but as another poster pointed out, if we were in for players such as kevin james and neil harris, then that would be proof of a lack of ambition. we are not we are trying to buy better players than we already have. that is pretty much the definition of amition in football, not throwing money away.

your opinion is just as valid as mine or any other persons, however, in your heart of hearts you must realise that you're just angry and frustrated and want signings, and when that happens you'll be telling all your none forest fan friends that NOTTINGHAM FOREST FOOTBALL CLUB are full of ambition and are going places. possibly not this year, hopefully soon.

    chin up lads.”
