LEE Camp today told Nottingham Forest they will make a flying start to the campaign – if they can produce the same level of football as they did in the opening weeks of last season.

Billy Davies' side won only one of their opening eight Championship fixtures last season when they beat local rivals Derby County 3-2 at the City Ground in August.

But Camp insists they deserved better after producing some outstanding football.

And, he believes if they can play to the same level when the new campaign kicks off in a few weeks' time, they will this time hit the ground running as they look to build another promotion push.

"The way we played at the start of last season, in terms of the football we were producing, was very good," he said.

"We took West Brom to the cleaners, but lost the game to a scruffy goal.

"It was only really the Watford game where we were disappointing.

"Other than that, I thought we played some outstanding football, but we were not always rewarded for it.

"And people saw the quality of signings we had made in the summer and perhaps made a mountain out of a molehill when the results did not go our way to begin with.

"But things eventually clicked for us, when it came to results."

Camp does acknowledge the importance of getting off to a good start this season, however.

But he says they cannot underestimate the size of their task, with opening fixtures against Burnley (a), Leeds (h), Reading (a) and Norwich (h).

"It is important to get off to a good start, whatever you are trying to achieve," he said.

"As soon as you get that first win, the season is up and rolling.

"If you have not won for a few matches it can quickly become a burden and people start to talk about it.

"It is a tough start for us, away at Burnley, who have come down and who have invested in some players.

"Then we have Leeds at the City Ground soon after.

"One club has something to prove and another has the momentum.

"But we have to play everyone at some point and we want to be winning these matches."

    “John Bird

I think you will find it was Doughty,s holding company which lost the money.Doughty,s involvement in Forest is purely on his own.I dare say it had some effect on his personal finances but he certainly didnt lose 50 million.”
