Football: Forest were left kicking their heels until February 19, 1963, when they lost 2-0 at Leicester. Manager Andy Beattie took some stick for his defensive 4-3-3 formation. Notts County were linked with a move for Cambridge United winger Fred Bunce, but Bob Tait refused to move in the opposite direction.

Mansfield Town were badly hit by the big freeze. They lost 2-1 at home to Brentford on December 22 but didn't play again until March 9.

Squash: Nottingham ladies lost 4-1 in Manchester. Mrs Ann Flanders was the lone winner.

Bowls: One-club man Bob Corbett, 83, was honoured by Hucknall Town BC at their annual dinner at the Denman's Head. He played for the club for 40 years.
