Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Smith is placed on the transfer list by Davies
GOALKEEPER Paul Smith has been told he has no future at Nottingham Forest.
Manager Billy Davies has placed the Reds stopper on the transfer list, having informed him that he is free to seek first team football elsewhere.

Forest are likely to demand a fee for the player, who cost £500k when signed from Southampton four years ago.
But, with first choice keeper Lee Camp earning plaudits for his performances last season, Davies believes the time is right for Smith to find another club.
"I have told Paul that his future lies away from Nottingham Forest," said Davies.
"It is in his best interests and in the best interests of the club if he moves on to pastures new.
"He needs somewhere where he can get regular first team football, which we can't offer him here.
"He has been placed on the transfer list and is available for sale."
Smith, 30, was once on the fringes of an international call-up, after being invited to train with the England squad while playing for Southampton.
But Camp has stolen the limelight since signing from QPR, as he played a key role in Forest's surge to third place in the Championship last season – prompting speculation that he could be in the England reckoning himself.
Smith made 141 starts for Forest, helping them to promotion from League One and to avoid relegation from the Championship 12 months ago.
But his only league appearance since Camp's signing came at Scunthorpe last season, as Camp was rested ahead of the play-offs.
Premiership Blackpool are believed to have joined the race to sign Forest striker Nathan Tyson.
The Reds are thought to be willing to listen to offers for the player, who craves the chance to play in his preferred role up front.
Forest have already begun work to sign a replacement, having bid £300,000 for Sheffield Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson.
They are likely to demand as much as £1m for Tyson, who cost £675k when he signed from Wycombe in 2005.

“Brian
The dailies are printed even earlier and havent you heard of the internet, so yes the post could have uplifted this story,it would only take seconds.Whats your problem do you work for the NEP or something. And to be honest papers do make up comments from people all the time or expand on them .All this paper does is repeat and re-hash stories day after day and I am not the only one to say this.
I am neither bitter or ill informed ,I just expect a newspaper to be a "news" paper and not just copiers of others peoples work. And as I said before I wait to see whether this is fact.”

“Don't shoot the messenger, but was in the company of a friend (yeah, I know..that old chestnut!) who knows Chris Cohen and got some interesting news out of him:
PRATLEY
Apparently Froest have been asked by Swansea not to mention his possible signing to the Reds whilst they are selling good numbers of season tickets; apparently this term theay are almost two thousand up on sales and are worried an announcement will impact these sales and therefore revenue.
WHITTINGHAM
At the moment the ball is in his court, as he is deliberating a move to the Reds and is still to get back to them. Fingers crossed thought he makes a decision we will all be happy with!
SHOREY
Forget it. He has apparently categorically told those in charge at the CG he will not be coming to Forest unless it is a very last resort. Usual 'waiting for a Prem' offer.
As I said, don't shoot the messenger re this info...just thought you may like to know what I have GENUINELY heard.

“Mandy, The Post is now a morning paper, it is printed in the middle of the night and is available by 7am in most areas. It would be physically impossible for them to have lifted this from the Mirror and, I repeat, are you suggesting they made up the additional quotes that have not appeared ANYWHERE else from Billy Davies?
I enjoy reading the comments on this site, even when Notts/Derby fans come on and provide a little banter.
But you just sound more and more like a bitter, ill informed moaner.
Have a nice Sunday.”

“The squad is so thin that we can't afford to sell Tyson. We need at least 2 more players than last year or we will burn out towards the end, like we did last season...”
