Forest facing D-day in efforts to land Cardiff winger Peter Whittingham
TODAY could be D-day in Nottingham Forest's efforts to land Cardiff City winger Peter Whittingham.
Sources close to the player in Wales suggest that Whittingham will decide on his future within the next 24 hours.

Cardiff themselves remain keen to sell the winger, rather than run the risk of losing him for nothing when his contract expires next summer, as happened with Joe Ledley.
But it is believed Whittingham, who scored 25 goals last season, is now considering whether to remain with Cardiff for now, despite the interest from Forest and several other Championship sides.
The 25-year-old still does not plan to sign a new deal with Dave Jones' side, but could decide to wait until January and see if Cardiff's anticipated promotion push materialises.
However, despite the pending sale of Ross McCormack to Leeds, the Welsh club's cash problems have not completely disappeared and they would rather recoup some cash for the player now.
The sale of 24-year-old McCormack will help raise the £1m-plus Cardiff require to pay the portion of the wages of on-loan Manchester City man Craig Bellamy.
Despite Cardiff's big spending to bring in Bellamy and the likes of Jason Koumas (Wigan), Daniel Drinkwater (Man Utd) and Seyi Olofinjana (Hull) on loan, their financial crisis continues.
Forest have been fined £12,500 by the FA following the fracas during the 1-1 draw against Leeds United at the City Ground. Leeds were fined £7,500.

“Dear Mr Doughty,
I understand your reluctance in these difficult times to spend your hard earned on over priced players that may not be up to the required standards so I suggest an alternative, why not divert the price of a good forward (in the Championship) towards the appointment of a successful, gifted player and proven manager capable of great things? The only member of the playing staff we have any hope of signing this season happens to be the only logical option if we have any reasonable expectation of sustained success with the club.
Billy Davies has done what he does to get us where we are but we need someone more capable to get where we know our club can be. Forget the European Cups, we were a very difficult to beat consistent top 6 finishing top flight club who nobody enjoyed playing except maybe Liverpool. We were always good for the semis at least in the domestic cups, today we would have to be as good as Spurs and given some of their players I think this is entirely possible, but, only with someone of the calibre of Martin O'Neill at the helm”

“Does this mean that when Billy goes we can get Martin in instead and get back on with the program?”

“So D Day passes, D Day + 1 is almost up too and still no news. Thank goodness for the transfer deadline otherwise this frustration would go on all season!”

“Not sure if this has been mentioned on here today as i'm not reading these comments. I'm not particularly suicidal at the moment and would like to keep it that way. Anyway, Victor Chandler today started punting odds on which championship manager will go first. They've got Billy down as 3/1f as the first to get the sack (Strachan second favourite).
I just wanted to make the point that we have "wonderful" sponsors who really get behind our club.
Victor Chandler is scum.”
