Forest face waiting game in bid to land USA striker Findley
NOTTINGHAM Forest may have to wait weeks before learning whether they have successfully signed USA striker Robbie Findley.
The 25-year-old international is understood to have agreed personal terms for a potential move to the City Ground.
-

But the capture of Findley, who has returned to the States following a trial period with the Reds last week, is not yet certain.
There are believed to be a number of other clubs, including Premier League Bolton, who are interested in hijacking the deal for the player, who is a free agent after rejecting the offer of a new deal with MLS side Real Salt Lake.
It could also take weeks to successfully apply for a work permit for the striker, who has also played for LA Galaxy.
Findley played three games for the USA in the World Cup last summer – including facing England.
But to automatically qualify for a work permit, he must have played in 75 per cent of his country’s international matches over the last two years – which he has not done, having won only 11 caps.
It is likely that a permit could still be secured for the 5ft 9in player, but it may take weeks to cut through the red tape.
But given that he has not played for more than a month since the MLS season came to an end, Findley would not be fit enough to slot straight into the Forest first-team squad anyway.
Either way, the insistence of Wolves boss Mick McCarthy that Forest had beaten his side to the player’s signature may yet be premature.
“We had him here and he came and trained with us, but he’s gone to Forest,” said McCarthy.
“I think he’s been offered a contract, whereas we wanted to have a look at him.”
Findley scored 29 goals in 91 games for Real Salt Lake, including 12 last season when he was joint-third highest scorer in the league.
His most important strike came in the final of the MLS Cup when he scored to earn a 1-1 draw against LA Galaxy, before Real went on to win on penalties.
A pacy, hard-working striker, Findley would provide Forest with another attacking option at a time when Dexter Blackstock is likely to be ruled out for at least 12 months.

“For those slagging off Findley and MLS on their quality you don't know what you're talking about. Sure it's not the EPL but the top MLS sides can certainly hold their own vs Npower. Suppose you don't remember the last time Forest played DC United? Where do you think Ryan Nelsen and Clint Dempsey came from? Oh yeah and that Ben Olsen kid...”

“Redun nottm. Seven or eight members of the senior squad see their deals expire in the summer, including key figures such as Guy Moussi, Robert Earnshaw, Kelvin Wilson, Dele Adebola and Nathan Tyson.”

“Do you not want to talk about notts county's promotion bid then mike? Funny that at the start of the season we couldn't shut you up bragging about all notts county's amazing summer signings and forest's lack of signings. You was telling us all summer how notts county was going to storm the league and forest was in for a season of struggle. Yet the reality is, notts county are in for the season of struggle after 10 loses and a crap defence with poor signings at best. And forest on the other hand or in for another lovely season around the top spots. We have 2 games in hand on most teams, a great defence the second best in the league as it happens and only 4 loses all season, with some nice new signings on the way. So when your done making stupid comments and sulking. Try to learn a lesson mike, try learning that forest will always be the bigger better club and your comments only back fire and make you look silly. So mike know your place as second best club in nottingham and live with it yeah?”

“I can fully understand why Forest fans don't want KFC back. What he did was unforgiveable and very dirty! But lets have it right, people on here are just being daft to doubt his ability or suggest he wouldn't get in. He would be Forest's best player by a country mile!!!!!!”

“The MLS is garbage, It's worse than what SOG is doing picking non league cheapos for Direby. There are better pub team players in England than most of the MLS.
The MLS is for past it players like Beckham and Henry to go spend there dotage pretending they are still any good when they aint.”
