Forest boss targets a sixth striker
BILLY Davies today revealed he is trying to land a SIXTH striker to make Nottingham Forest a real force in front of goal next season.
David McGoldrick and Dele Adebola both signed this week to join up with Robert Earnshaw, Nathan Tyson and Joe Garner.
But the Reds boss has asked the board to land him another forward to give him even more options.
Davies said: "They are the ones that fire you to the top of the league. We have five and I would still like another one.
"The board know that and have been very supportive to the suggestions I have made over the last couple of weeks.
"They have been very responsive and we have to get this front situation sorted out.
"We have to make sure we don't need to play Nathan Tyson three times in a week. We have to make sure Robert Earnshaw does not do that.
"We have not brought Adebola to play 60 games a season, but to play in the right type of games in the right situations and to have them all fresh.
"To do that, we need six strikers. At this moment we have five very good strikers and we hope to bring in another one and that will have us ready to rotate it when we feel necessary."
Davies hinted that up to another five players are on his wish list.
And no time is being wasted with Forest confirming they have agreed an undisclosed fee with QPR for goalkeeper Lee Camp.
Camp, who made 15 appearances while on loan at the City Ground last season, is expected to sign today subject to passing a medical.
He will become the fourth signing after Paul Anderson made his move from Liverpool permanent on Tuesday.
But Davies is far from done, adding: "We still want a centre back, central midfielder and still need another striker and one or two others that will fit in.
"There will still be a number of players that come into this football club between now and the start of the season.
"It is all about round pegs in round holes, I have said that all along.
"We have to find full backs that are full backs, midfielders that are midfielders. We are trying to do that and will keep working away."
And he is still hopeful of landing Preston midfielder Paul McKenna who he worked with during his time at Deepdale.
"It is not dead in the water," said Davies. "We have put in another improved offer to Preston and he is a player I admire greatly.
"He is the right age for this club because of his experience and what he has done. He probably needs a fresh move for his own career.
"He is a very fit man, a great pro and a great talker in the dressing room and on the pitch.
"He is an outstanding player and we will do all we can to bring him to this football club because he is a player we need."

“Honestly, there is no pleasing some people. We moan when there are no new signings and as soon as things change we find another reason to moan. 'Take until easter for them to gel' I doubt we will see all the new signings on the pitch in the first game. The simple fact is that the squad that scraped through last season was not good enough to be a challenger as it had very little depth and although I have reservations about BD, what he is doing is adding depth with players of proven abilities in this division. Over the past few years i have been pretty negative about how Forest has been run as a business, however things seem to be changing and we are making smart signings to give us a fighting chance of being in the top half of this division. We have to secure further support for Wes and Kelvin so another centre half is an absolute must.”

“We now have so many new signings it will take till Easter for them to gel, by which time we'll be floundering in the bottom three.
It would have been better to have done this rebuilding more slowly.”

“Davo, Al have you though tghat Mcgoldrick and Tyson can play on the wing and he would use them as stikers and back up wingers and stop moaning i would rather have 6 stikers than 3 like we have stuggled with!!!!!!!!!
Yes we need some Defenders and a Mid but come on you moan when there is no signings now your maoning he wants to many how about you both start showing some support and he has said he wants another 5/6 more signings 1 striker and then maybe 2 mid and 2 def i think thats plenty.”

“Why stop at 6 strikers Billy ?
Lets sign 10 and then a couple of them can play centre half.
Or get 12 and then they can cover the midfield and full backs.
Come on David Pleat exercise some common sense on signings , we need a team with all positions covered not 6 strikers.
Or is Earnie on his way as is widely predicted?”

“Good that we are signing players at last, but surely we need some defenders?
and a couple of midfield players would help.”
