Salisbury losing players ahead of Stags trip
SALISBURY City have struggled to put a squad together for today's trip to Mansfield after manager Nick Holmes was forced to make three strikers available for transfer.
Robbie Matthews has already joined Havant and Waterlooville on a six-week loan, while Andy Sandell and Matt Tubbs are understood to be attracting interest from a host of Football League and Blue Square clubs.
Holmes said he was "very upset" at the decision, but it was the only option available to help ensure the long-term survival of the club at its current level of football.
The trio, who have amassed more than 150 goals during their time with the Whites, are believed to be among the club's highest earners.
"These are players who have helped us, not just this season, but over many seasons," said Holmes.
"I'm very upset to have to ask Andy, Robbie and Matt to leave the club.
"It's not for football reasons. It's purely down to our financial situation. What manager would put three of his best players up for grabs?
"I can't promise there won't be others."
