Forest boss Davies: We want to bring players in, not sell them

BILLY Davies today urged Nottingham Forest not to allow any more players to leave the City Ground – and admitted speculation about the future of Kelvin Wilson, Nathan Tyson and Chris Cohen is having a destabilising affect on his squad.

The Reds boss says he has recommended to the club hierarchy that they do not consider any offers for the trio, with Celtic said to be keen on Wilson, several Premiership clubs having been linked with Cohen and Southampton already having a bid rejected for Tyson.

And, at the same time, he admitted to being 'very concerned' at the lack of new signings.

"There is a lot of speculation with regard to Kelvin Wilson. We will have to see what happens there and it is the same with Chris Cohen and Nathan Tyson. It can be disruptive when that happens," he said.

"My recommendation with all three players is that they should be part of our progression.

"I have not spoken to the players but they know my feelings about them. They know that I like them and like them very much.

"They know they are very much part of our plans.

"Money talks in football however, we all know that. As a manager, you know that what you are dealing with now might not be what you are dealing with in two weeks."

Davies refuted speculation that Arsenal striker Jay Simpson is among the list of targets he has given to the acquisitions committee.

He said: "I have recommended that we bring in strikers, yes. But he is not among them.

"As things stand, I have given a list of potential signings to the acquisitions committee and like anyone else, I am obviously very concerned.

"But I have said before that it is just my job to put the names forward and then wait, like everyone else, to see what can be done."

When asked if he was having regular conversations with the committee, Davies responded: "I have had my meeting (with the committee) and I have put the names forward of the players I believe can move this club forward.

"It is only right that the board and the acquisitions panel deal with the players coming in and going out. They deal with finance, I deal with the players."

Forest lost 1-0 at Peterborough on Saturday, following on from their 2-0 defeat at Tranmere in midweek.

"It would concern me (not getting the right results) when we have the right team out and the right balance," said Davies.

"But, at the current time, we find ourselves without new signings and we have lost some key players."

“Why don't we just ignore the idots from over the Trent and the Direby fans and keep this banter purely Forest? It's getting boring and if they were ignored they would eventually get bored like all little children.

I know I would rather hear gossip then listen to us getting dragged into pathetic snipes from lesser fans from lesser teams.

    Lets keep it Forest.”
