This is Nottingham

WE TOOK it pretty hard when Chateau Ali closed a few months back. The Lace Market restaurant did things with the sort of detail and finery that's not often seen these days; it was a restaurant that understood the idea of occasion.

We hear that chef and proprietor Ali Javaheri might be up to something new one of these days; when we get something definite, you'll be the first to know.

NEW VENTURE? Ali Javaheri at Chateau Ali.

In the meantime, we're pleased to report a new place going into the former Chateau Ali location.

Dino , which opens to the public this week, looks to be a continental cafe with a good mix of full menu options and light, tapas-style dishes. And, depending on what time you're there, it'll also offer proper coffee or a proper vino list.

We're really just teasing you here – there'll be a full-on report in next week's EG food page.

Chino Latino knows how to spoil guests on most any night, so when the place calls something a "Night of Indulgence", it's safe to say they mean it. So if you book for Thursday's special event, be prepared.

It's £49, and, for that, guests get a set menu that includes seven specially selected glasses of wine to complement dishes that include a sushi and sashimi platter, sesame prawn spring rolls with chilli sauce, Alaskan king crab dumpling with ginger and soy dressing, prawn tempura, Korean spiced lamb cutlets, wasabi salsa, char-grilled sirloin steak, hot rocks and wasabi ponzu sauce.

There's more, but you get the idea. Book ahead.
