Farnsfield snatch last-gasp win
A FANTASTIC match at Stone Close saw home side Kiveton Park lose to title challengers Farnsfield off the very last ball.
Batting first, Kiveton rattled up an enormous 277-6 with Matty Cartwright (75), Ian Hampshire (56) and skipper Richard Spur (50*) all batting magnificently.
After this onslaught, one could have forgiven Farnsfield for folding but they had other ideas and launched an astonishing reply.
Young South African wicket-keeper-batsman Damion Crowley was again in top form, making 81 to get his side off to the sort of start they needed.
However, with 15 overs remaining Farnsfield needed to score at ten runs per over but somehow they managed it.
Andy Edwards batted superbly to make 56 but it was 15-year-old Brett Hutton who really broke the Kiveton hearts with some bludgeoning shots on his way to an unbeaten 43.
It was fitting that Hutton should make the winning hit, smashing the ball to the fence off the very last ball to seal a three-wicket win.
Victory put Farnsfield 27 points clear at the top with two matches to play.
Another last-ball thriller took place at Ordsall where home side Bridon went down by one wicket to Glapwell.
Bridon who have tailed away quite badly, made a useful looking 224-7 with Aaron Haycock (58) and Roger Wells (47) leading the charge.
For Glapwell, Danny Bircumshaw (56) and Ricky Somer (37) were the top scorers while Colin Hurst (4-78) and Matt Makings (3-49) tried in vain to turn the game back in Bridon's favour.
It was still touch and go however with Glapwell needing 12 runs from the final over and ten off the last two balls.
But Tom Ritchie smashed a six and a four to carry his side to a fantastic win on 227-9.
Marshalls conquered bottom-of-the-table Waleswood (85) but it was nowhere near as easy as the scores would suggest.
Marshalls struggled against the accurate attack of Simon Cope (4-30) and Gareth Davis (3 -23) and only Kevin Housham (48), Greg Andrews (38) and skipper Paul Van den Heuval (27) made any impact as their side were dismissed for only 147.
