Fanfair
AS WELL as Lawson, The Wanted will have girl group Fanfair opening for them at the Capital FM Arena on Wednesday. Jessica Martin (pictured left) introduces them...
Where are you all from?
All over! Aimee is from Southport, Anara is originally from Spain but grew up in Brighton, Roberta is from Dublin and I'm from Poole in Dorset.
How did music start for you?
I have been a performer since the age of three, when I started baby ballet. I was singing from the age of seven. All of the girls have been involved in music and performing all of their lives as well – it's a huge part of who we are.
Who were you listening to growing up?
The Spice Girls. I went to the newsagent's after school every Friday to get the latest pack of postcards to complete my Spice Album.
Where was your first gig and how did it go?
Our first gig was at the Madejski Stadium, Reading, back in February last year, performing to around 9,000 people for a London Irish rugby home game. We were certainly thrown in to the deep end. In a way, it was nicer to be in front of so many people, rather than a smaller venue where you know everyone is staring at you and you have nowhere to look.
Tell us about your debut album
We spent some time over in Stockholm during 2011 and recorded four tracks with producer Arnthor Birgisson. We are heading back over to Stockholm after the tour to work on more tracks for the album.
What can we expect at your Nottingham gig?
Nottingham is opening night of the tour so I can guarantee there will be a lot of excitement and copious amounts of adrenaline. I've heard that Nottingham is likely to be the noisiest audience and we can't wait to meet as many people at the arena as possible.
What experiences have you had of Nottingham in the past?
I can only remember going shopping there when I was about 16. I can't even remember why but it's a beautiful city.
