INVESTIGATIONS were continuing today into the death of a man outside the Notts County ground this week.

The Forest Green Rovers fan, was found in a car outside Meadow Lane on Tuesday.

St John's Ambulance and East Midlands Ambulance were called at about 9.56pm and were at the scene by 10pm.

The man, believed to be middle aged, was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre with a suspected heart attack. He was pronounced dead at hospital.

Forest Green Rovers FC, based in Gloucestershire, said they are investigating. In a statement issued by the Nailsworth club, spokesman Colin Peake paid his condolences.

He said: "The club has liaised this morning with the coroner's office in Nottingham and at this stage it would be inappropriate to make any detailed comment other than to extend our sincere condolences at this stage to the family and friends of the supporter until personal information is officially released.

"The club are satisfied at this stage that the medical response by Notts County FC staff and the St John Ambulance members was of the highest calibre and despite their valiant efforts and that of paramedics, who attended the scene outside the ground at the conclusion of the match, their efforts were in vain."
