Evo-Stik League round-up: Hucknall and Carlton match reports
Hucknall Town 1 Mickleover Sports 0
It was relief all round at Watnall Road as Hucknall Town had goalkeeper Ross Whalin to thank after claiming their first Premier Division home win of the season.
Whalin was in superb form as he made a string of fine stops to deny Mickleover a share of the points.
Grant Brindley almost gave Hucknall the lead, his far post header from Walters' corner was superbly saved with the rebound being blocked by the Mickleover defenders.
Hucknall should have gone into half-time with a lead as both Tristram Whitman with a weak shot and then Paris Simmonds who volleyed over wasted good chances.
Mickleover started well in the second half as Ross Whalin began his heroics.
First Alex Steadman hit a ferocious shot that Whalin got down well to save, then Karl Ashton turned on a sixpence to fire in a shot that beat Whalin but crashed against the bar and bounced out. Kieran O'Connell's first-time shot was again blocked by Whalin.
On 61 minutes and with their first real attack of the second half Hucknall opened the scoring with their best move of the match
Deon Chambers found Paris Simmonds who turned and fed Cashell Walters on the right edge of the penalty box to curling a sweet shot into the bottom corner.
Hucknall were indebted to Whalin yet again as Mickleover sub Martin Smyth ran through but he couldn't beat the Hucknall keeper as he bravely saved with his legs.
Carlton Town 3 Kidsgrove Athletic 3
Carlton Town maintained their unbeaten run in Division One South last night but blew a three-goal lead in a disastrous five minute spell late on against much-fancied Kidsgrove.
Carlton made a bright start with McDonald and Naylor going close before McDonald gave the hosts the lead in the 15th minute, hitting a great shot past Steve Intahar from just outside the 18-yard box.
Kidsgrove almost equalised when centre forward Dave Walker hooked a shot over his shoulder, striking the top of Neil West's cross bar.
Carlton scored a second goal four minutes after the restart.
A ball into the area was allowed to bounce between the central defenders and Intahar, Mcdonald nipping in between the hesitant defence to poke over the line.
Carlton almost made it 3-0 when a Gardner cross was headed back across goal by Grayson. Thornton, following up, was unable to get his shot on target.
It was 3-0 on 58 minutes, when a right wing corner from Gardner was headed home at the far post by Nick Hall.
Kidsgrove pulled a goal back on 75 minutes when a cross to the far post was hammered home by Shotton.
A couple of minutes later Nick Ward was given too much space to run through the defence to fire a low shot under the diving West.
The comeback was complete a minute later with the Carlton defence in disarray, a long ball out of defence by Intahar was met by Ward, who wrong-footed the Carlton defence before firing past West.
Carlton almost snatched victory in the final minute, when a back header by Gardner appeared to be heading for the top corner but Intahar managed to get a hand on it to divert it over .
Carlton Town: West, Darkin, Fletcher, Clarke, Kitchen, Hall, Thornton, Naylor (Shaw 82), Grayson, McDonald (Troughton 72), Gardner. Sub not used: Darling.
