This is Nottingham

IT seems quite fitting that we are launching the Evening Post Friends of Maggie's and everyone can be a part of what is going to be an iconic cancer centre for our city.

Since our ice rink day our appeal has built up a huge momentum. Every blog I mention "it's busy" and the past couple of weeks even more so.

We have been inundated with people wanting to support the appeal: from lots of fantastic events in the local community to corporate supporters coming on board.

Last week I attended my first meeting at Deloitte, who have very kindly chosen to support us for next two years, I met the university fund-raising team and I went to the River Crescent apartments to finalise plans for our walk that we will be having at Colwick Park later this year.

I have also been working closely with Skills Holidays, who will be supporting the appeal during their 90th anniversary year. Maggie's will be promoted on coach journeys and we also feature on their website. This is a huge step for the appeal to have such corporate support.

I am working on plans for forthcoming events, like the celebration dinner at West Bridgford on February 13, our spring ball and a parachute with the Red Devils in the summer.

I have signed up for the parachute jump. Lynette from the Post made me laugh when she asked about getting video of me jumping out the plane from the website.

Jeanette. from the committee, will be joining me and we have made a pact that I will be first out.

On Saturday I attended my first Rotary meeting, not as a speaker this time but as a member. I was delighted to be approached by the Rotary to be part of a new group they are developing. If anyone had said two years what I would be doing now, I really could never imagined it.
