Elderly man in critical condition after A52 car crash
AN elderly man is in a critical but stable condition after a three-vehicle collision on the A52.
His red Vauxhall Corsa was in collision with a green Mitsubishi pickup truck towing a trailer and a green Ford Transit van in Radcliffe-on-Trent at 3pm yesterday.
His wife, who was a front seat passenger, broke her arm and was also taken to hospital.
No-one else required hospital treatment.
The Corsa was travelling from Nottingham towards Bingham and the other two vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.
Drivers were caught in long tailbacks because the road was closed until 7.35pm.
Notts Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the vehicles involved immediately before it happened to contact the Crash Investigation Unit.
Anyone with information should contact Detective Constable Katie Stokes on 0300 300 9999, ext 816 2229.

“Roads were closed for safety reasons and also prevent rubber necking which can cause more problems. Or those idiots who think they can just hurtle through an accident site on motor bikes not caring about problems they could cause. I myself was caught up in traffic going to fetch back my son in law and his mate who were actually involved in the accident from crash site. And had to go diverted route retrieve them from police who bought them out to me. I'm just glad they are not seriously hurt and my thoughts are with the elderly gentleman who is in hospital. Instead of people gripping about road closures just thank god it wasn't yourself s needing the road closed off while your rescued. And well done our emergency services job well done.”

“You need to think about what you say before you comment. You know very little about the accident.
This was a serious accident, the emergency services were dealing with people dying. The accident took up the whole road, both lanes, with smashed up cars, trailers, and debris everywhere.
Artic lorries and larger vehicles would not have been able to take a diversion through radcliffe on trent.
The emergency services ACTUALLY did remarkably well in this situation. Is it really that important that you got to where you needed to be at the exact minute you wanted to be there?
If it were family in the accident wouldnt you rather the emergency services deal with the EMERGENCY rather than your commuting problems?
Dont get bitter about this. Just be happy it was not YOU.”

“Why oh why was the whole of the A52 from Gamston island to Saxondale blocked off when it would have been possible to cordon off the accident area only and allow traffic to divert through Radcliffe on Trent village and back on the A52 at the far end of the village!!!
One of these days the emergency services are going to get it right and use some common sense about road closures.”
