Earnshaw targets first team return with Reds

ROBERT Earnshaw today admitted his frustration at finding himself on the sidelines at Nottingham Forest, but pledged: "I still want to improve on my goals tally from last season."

A combination of injury and a fierce fight for places has ensured the striker has started only two Championship games, along with five substitute appearances.

But, as he prepares to return from a calf strain when the Reds face Bristol City this weekend, last season's 15-goal top scorer is focused entirely on winning his place back.

And, with Nathan Tyson (calf) and Dexter Blackstock (knee) both now injured, Earnshaw may get his opportunity in the coming weeks.

"That is the thing for me, I want to be playing football. I am never happy when I am not," said Earnshaw.

"When I am out the side, whether I am injured or not, I am just horrible. It is not nice.

"I want to be playing, that is my aim. I want to go on and do more than I did last season.

"I want to be improving all the time, I want to get goals and I want to do well for Nottingham Forest.

"The whole club has been very good to me. The fans have been brilliant towards me the whole time. I just love going out there and putting on that shirt.

"That has to be the aim when I am fit again, to get back into the side, to get involved."

While he had been frustrated at his lack of opportunity prior to his most recent injury problems, Earnshaw says he understands the situation, with six top-class front men vying for a place in the starting XI.

"I have been frustrated, but I guess all of the strikers will be at some stage or another, because everyone wants to play," he said.

"I am the same. I am going to be frustrated and unhappy if I am not playing. My aim is to be playing every week.

"It has been tough in the last couple of months, because the team has been changing around and there has been rotation.

"No one has had a real run in the team. Dexter has, to some degree, I suppose – and he has been doing well.

"And, as long as the team is doing well, I am happy because I want the team to do well.

"But we all want to play at the same time.

"I want the team to be winning but you want to be in the winning team.

"I want to be looking to going to bigger and better places in the future with Forest, I want us to be getting better all the time.

"I am going to be frustrated, but we will see what happens in the coming weeks. Hopefully I will get my chance."

“Garners playing on the wing most the time, Tyson and Earnies been injured for a bit, Adebola only ever comes on for about 20 mins and McGoldrick from that miss on Sunday where it went into the side netting, best hurry up and find where the net is or he will be losing out aswel. But yeah credit to the defence. And who was it who said they would let us down this season.
BILLY FOR THE NEXT BRIAN CLOUGH IN MY EYES and this is the start.”

“I don't recall seeing any rules about staying on topic to post here, and if someone has a go at me I would defend myself in print too.

Maybe there should be an IQ test though. The first question could be, "where is the scroll bar?"

    Answer: that way >>>>>”

“It's amazing isn't it. I make a few anti-Trembling comments and the NEP pulls them as fast as you can say Direby scum. But just have a look at some of the comments on the news article about the English Defence League. Far more inflammatory and likely to cause offence to someone or another. The NEP thinks that by sucking up to Trembling & Eriksson they'll increase readership. Simple as. And you mustn't upset them. Oh no. Human rights left right and centre but freedom of speech ? Forget it.”

“Likewise I don`t make many comments on here, but I do
    read regular almost daily.
    Last season there were a
Mike of Nottingham , who used
to say " NOT THE SORT OF
PERSON TO SAY i TOLD YOU SO......BUT, I TOLD YOU
SO. " Very similar to this
    berk who uses the
    pseudonym of CRAIG .
Is this phrase you use "Underlay Underlay " to
    do with the Mexican Mouse
"Speedy Gonzalez " You need to research your mouse friend better. Spelt wrong.
    Mandy
You sock it to them lass.
You write some very interesting topics. It is equally thought provoking with some of the critics and their replies, usually I might add from non
    Forest supporters. However
those who desire to use abusive language with the
    uppercase keys "£$%& etc
    is just infantile .
Some of the writers on here,
    do their creditability as conver
    sationalists no good at all.
If I had submitted an English
lesson , like some on here,
when I was a school boy , well
    I`ll say no more.
    Football Topic to finish.
    Currently as already said
Billy uses 4 5 1, The question was raised if he would change that to 4 4 2.
    once Ernie is fit again.
I can see Billy adapting the
formation to the players available. He will looking for
a run of goal scoring off
    strikers. Ernie is goal hungry.
He knows he has to make an impact and quick next time in side. So yes I can
    see Earnshaw back in a
    4 4 2 , sooner than later.”
