THE first national tour of the West End smash hit musical Dirty Dancing has been extended due to demand and includes a three-week run at the Theatre Royal.

Nottingham is among five cities included in the record-breaking tour that started in Bristol in September.

It will be coming to the Theatre Royal next year from Tuesday February 12 to Saturday March 2 2013.

Tickets go on sale on Monday.

"We are delighted and proud to announce an extension to the national tour, after such incredible demand to date," says the show's producers.

"It has been wonderful to see audiences across the country embracing the show with the same passion and support that it received in the West End. As Dirty Dancing enters another exciting new stage in its UK journey, it shows no signs of slowing down."

Dirty Dancing played for five years at London's Aldwych Theatre, breaking all box office records with advanced ticket sales of over £15 million, making it the fastest ever selling West End show.

It played to over one million people and more than five million have now seen it worldwide.

It was written by Eleanor Bergstein, the script writer and creator of the hit film and includes the hits Do You Love Me?, Hungry Eyes and the Academy Award winning (I've Had) The Time Of My Life.

Tickets are priced from £20 to £43.50.

They will be available from Monday by calling 0115 989 5555, online at www.trch.co.uk and in person from the Royal Centre box office.
