THE English Golf Union is to continue its support of the Lee Westwood Golf Academies.

Westwood, beaten in a play-off for the Dubai Desert Classic, was a member of the EGU's Coaching Squad and represented England in the Home Internationals in 1993 before turning pro.

Since then, he has had a victorious career, with 18 European Tour titles to his name, recently winning the Dubai World Championship and ending his season last year as Europe's No.1.

Westwood said: "I was delighted with how my academies went last year and I'm excited about the prospect of expanding and making the experience even more worthwhile for the youngsters that attend.

"I'm very passionate about my academy and, with the support of the English Golf Union, I am certain they will grow from strength to strength."

After a successful first year, the Westwood Academies are back with an edition to the programme.

There will be 17 three-day academies and the chance to attend a five day residential academy. The programme will cover every aspect of the game.
