Dual role for Calderwood as Newcastle confirm appointment
COLIN Calderwood has officially joined Newcastle United's coaching staff – as first revealed in the Evening Post last week.
The Scot has linked up with fellow former Nottingham Forest manager Joe Kinnear at St James' Park.

Calderwood may combine the role with a part-time position as head coach of the Faroe Islands.
The Faroe Islands Football Association claim Calderwood has agreed to take on the job ahead of a friendly against Iceland in March.
The former Mansfield, Swindon, Spurs, Aston Villa, Forest and Notts County centre-half will be a specialist defensive coach.
Kinnear said: "We have Colin Calderwood on board now, and he will be joining us until the end of the season to bring something else to our backroom team."
It is understood Calderwood held initial talks over the role early last week but played down reports that he was set to join the Premiership club until the deal was agreed.

“Very well put Keith, you will probably recieve a torrent of abuse, maybe even get threatened by some of the 'experts'. He certainly left us a lot better than he found us.”

“I wonder who knows more about coaching professional footballers (and football generally)-the ex players involved at clubs like Newcastle, who have appointed CC as defensive coach,or the 'experts' who come on here fresh from their starring role in bringing the best out of their local pub side.?
Oh,and of course, our Chairman, who said that in the not too distant future CC would end up managing the Premiership, despite the eventually disappointing outcome of his time at F
orest-he knows nothing about football.
Oh and don't forget Billy Davies: he obviously knows nothing either,as he said tribute should be paid to CC's 'tremendous achievements'
Never mind,lads-I'm sure you'll get the call to display your superior knowledge when Sir Alec retires!”

“Mind you, if they've got right wingers who dont mind playing on the left, left wingers who dont mind playing on the right, strikers who dont mind playing as left wingers when the left wingers are playing right wing, central defenders who were converted into right backs and who now play as defensive midfilders, full backs who used to be central defenders.......well if they've got all that lot, he'll be sorted.”
