Dogs found inside box in soaring heat
TWO dogs were found sealed inside a cardboard box as temperatures reached 30°C on Tuesday.
The two Jack Russell terrier-cross dogs were discovered when a motorist stopped for a break in Finch Close in Lenton at lunchtime.

She saw the taped-shut cardboard box on the side of the road and heard whimpering from inside.
The RSPCA are now appealing for any information about the incident.
One dog, a black and tan-coloured Jack Russell and Dachshund cross, was wearing a brown leather collar with a bone-shaped metal tag which said 'Scooby'.
The other dog is tri-coloured and his fur looks like it has been shaved or clipped short recently.
Both dogs are wiry-haired, healthy and very friendly.
The RSPCA say the dogs could have quickly developed heat stroke and died if they had not been found.
People found guilty of failing to protect an animal's needs could face a maximum six-month prison sentence and or a £20,000 fine.

“I quite agree with Liz. The Police Dog Handler should have known better than to leave two German Shepherds in his car when the temperatures were soaring. I found it odd that the NEP wouldn't let us comment on the story and yet go to sky news website and leave your comment. I hope these other two abandoned dogs find a home that they so deserve with owners that treat them as part of the family.
Sadly it's the holiday season when some people are thinking more of their holidays than the care of their pets.”

“I can't understand why someone's valid point about why we weren't allowed to comment on the police's behaviour was taken down. This makes my own response to that comment appear bizarre and trivial. I want to make it clear that I am horrified by what the police did to their poor dogs and what happened to the dogs sealed in a box. Thankfully, though, the latter survived. The police dogs died a hideous, agonising death. I don't think we need wait for any official reports to be sure of that fact and I agree that the officers involved should never work with animals again or own pet dogs for that matter. They have proved themselves unworthy. I hope that the police really do now have procedures in place to ensure it never happens again. It's quite simple: never, ever, leave a dog alone in a car on a hot day.”

“I think people have got the wrong end of the stick! This is clearly a surprise birthday present.The person has gone to their car after patiently wrapping the dags up and put them on the ground whilst looking for their car keys.Its easily done.Thank god it was only dags and not something important.”
