A MAN who was given a £70 parking ticket after displaying a disabled badge incorrectly has won an appeal.

Neil Spibey was given the fixed penalty notice after leaving the blue badge the wrong way up on the dash board, while parking in a disabled bay off Albert Road, West Bridgford on August 23, as previously reported in the Post.

Mr Spibey, 57, had travelled from Warrington to take his mother Gladys Spibey, 86, of Clifton, for a day out.

The council said it was "normal practice" to fine if people did not display badges properly, but it was likely they would be overturned on challenge if their validity was confirmed.

The family challenged the ticket and Neil's son Simon told the Post: "We have had a notice of acceptance of the challenge so we won't have to pay.

"They do say 'make sure it is displayed properly in future and whilst the Penalty Charge Notice was issued correctly, we will on this occasion accept your challenge.'"
