WHEN you are a professional football manager, coach or player, a nomadic, uncertain lifestyle comes with the territory.

High financial reward is the compensation for the knowledge that, almost at any point, you can find yourself looking for alternative employment.

  1. Fraser Nicholson

But, while the game by its very nature is a transient industry, there are some people who do deserve to find themselves beyond the reach of the fickle nuances of football.

Fraser Nicholson had been part of the media team at Nottingham Forest for the best part of two decades.

He was a professional, dedicated and loyal servant to the club, who was liked and respected by everyone he came into contact with, both at Forest and beyond – including everyone at the Post.

Most of the time, when somebody loses their job in football, there is an obvious explanation; a failure on the pitch or a breakdown of a relationship.

But I don't think it is stepping beyond the mark for me to say that the decision to end Fraser's time at the City Ground was one that had the majority of the Nottingham media scratching their heads in confusion – and in considerable dismay.

“there are a hell of a lot of people who dont like Billy (away from the majority of forest fans) and for some strange reason MA is respected withinthe FA and other circles - these are facts so why do people try to ignore them or slate someone for putting them forward??? your as bad as the others who seem to pick n choose whatever suits there point of view!!! if you evaluate both sides of the arguement you can see a way forward and it looks promising,if you choose to dwell on the good and bad parts of our past you will miss out on all the fun thats coming our way!!! “If there was ever a need to justify why Brinders/RedSong/Figaro should remain sectioned under the mental health act...it is his crazy statement that Mark Arthur is respected by his peers!

What utter crazy ******! Just what medication are you crazy multiple-personalities on?!! Time to change the medicine!

As for stating most of the rest of the world don't like Billy Davies...well, you really are living in cloud cuckoo land!!!”

“Thanks Figaro, someone has to put the other side on here for the sake of reasonable fans of a once-great football club and, as you know, there are a fair few of us.

Southampton rings a bell. Good player, good bloke and good times!”

“Brinders your well reasoned arguments are wasted.
However it was Southampton that Bill Brindley came off the bench for Wiggy
His job was to jump n front of the goalie - little did he know he was to make a good contact and score!
Happy days with Johnny Carey now there's a manager.”

“if thats the case huey im with you - theres always extremes and it looks like that is very extreme!!! i dont look on here everyday and i dont tie posts to names but it is a shame if people are saying things like that - very misleaded and foolish but unfortunately they are probably still forest fans albeit with strange views??”

“Why on earth should Colin Fray be a Forest fan? He's there to report on the club not worship them. Infact I think he is very fond of the club having followed them for so long.
His comment was almost certainly based on the fact that Nigel Doughty's regime would never have re-employed Billy for a thousand and one different reasons.
But what kind of person refuses to speak with someone who dares to pass an opinion about them?
    A dictator, perhaps?”

“A large section of Forest fans like Billy Davies, a smaller section of Reds supporters and most of the rest of the world (not that that counts in your Red tunnel vision) don't."

Where exactly does this say 'Billy is hated by a large proportion of Forest fans'? For the record, he is disliked (hated is too strong a word) by a significant minority.

My point is this: if you ask around in the football world, Mark Arthur was respected by his peers as is Billy Davies. If Arthur's main crime was to ensure we didn't lose £50m a year through greedy managers and their fix-all mega-bucks signings rather than the shocking £12m we do actually lose, then he'll do for me. His good housekeeping probably helped ensure we were a reasonably attractive prospect to buy - although it is a cause of great regret it was then snapped up by the current regime.”

“why would anyone go through the process of disagreeing but not posting why?? this one of the reasons why some people let themselves down on here. shall we call anyone who does this a derby fan?? it seems like that is acceptable if you dont agree with what another site user does or posts?? come on you closet sheep fans!!! replies welcome - ive got a basic level of intelligence that allows me to debate rather than just disagree!!!! “BrindersGod- I have my doubts about whether Colin Fray is actually a Forest fan! Whats all that about? Colin Fray is another bright spark because he said after Billy Davies was sacked the first time "I don't believe Billy Davies will ever manage Forest again in the future" lol what a twonk well guess what Mr Fray who is Forest manager again now? by the way this was all on radio nottingham's football phone in (25th March) and if you are a Forest fan then i suggest you listen to it every Monday from now on because i have a sneek feeling it's going to get interestng.
By the way I do not blame Billy Davies for not wanting to speak with the BBC nottingham radio team.”
