BEN Davies hopes Notts County can produce a special performance on an historic day.

The Magpies will celebrate 100 years at Meadow Lane ahead of their League One game against Yeovil Town tomorrow.

The players will wear an all-white centenary kit, and several of the club's legends, including Jackie Sewell, Don Masson and Les Bradd, their all-time leading scorer with 137 goals, will be guests of the club.

Davies hopes the League Two champions can mark the anniversary with a victory.

He said: "It's a special day for the club, one for everyone involved with it to be proud of, so hopefully we can put on a performance to match the occasion.

"I'm proud to be playing in the game, and I've already asked if I can keep my kit as a souvenir."

Davies believes the game is significant in its own right, too.

The Magpies have won just one of their opening four league games, against Dagenham in their last game at Meadow Lane.

They have endured two defeats, to Huddersfield Town and Oldham Athletic, and rescued a 3-3 draw at Bournemouth last Saturday with two injury-time goals.

Notts conceded three goals in 28 minutes at Dean Court, and were also 2-0 behind in 14 minutes in their midweek defeat at Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Davies scored in the 2-1 loss at Hillsborough, and he said: "We have got to concentrate on making a good start because we have started badly in too many games already this season. We have been out of games before they have begun at times, and given ourselves a mountain to climb.

"If we can play to our best, we will be a match for anyone.

"We have got to cut out the silly mistakes and the sloppy goals, and if we can do that we will be fine.

"I think we have got to look to win any game at home, so we believe we can beat Yeovil."
