BILLY Davies will advise against allowing any further senior players to leave Nottingham Forest – but some of the fringe members of the squad may be allowed to move.

Newly-promoted Blackpool have joined Bolton in demonstrating an interest in highly-rated midfielder Chris Cohen (pictured), while Kelvin Wilson is attracting interest from Celtic boss Neil Lennon.

But with James Perch having been sold to Newcastle and David McGoldrick and Dele Adebola injured, Reds boss Davies does not want to see any more of his key players leave the City Ground.

"I made it clear last season that, with the age of this squad and the quality of it, that it was only needing to be topped up," he said. "The longer it was together as a group, we knew the more success it would get.

"What we didn't want to do was to be chopping and changing our better players, because that disrupts the long-term planning.

"I would not be encouraging or looking for any more players to leave the club. I would be looking to continue the development of this team for as long as I can."

Davies has already highlighted his belief that striker McGoldrick will have a big impact for the club in the future, once he has recovered from a shoulder injury that is likely to keep him sidelined for three months.

When asked if the likes of Joe Garner, Garath McCleary, Lewis McGugan and Matt Thornhill – who also struggled to break into the side on a regular basis – could have a similar impact, Davies responded: "I have made my mind up a long time ago with regards to what is required to take this club to the next level.

"All I can do is advise and recommend. I have made up my mind as to what is required; as to who should come and go; who should be loaned out and who we should try to take on loan.

"I have sat down with the acquisitions committee and discussed these things at length."
