LEADING scorer Ben Davies believes Notts County can shine on the bigger stage when they visit Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Davies has already inspired the Magpies to a significant away victory this campaign, scoring his first goal in a 2-1 win at Watford in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The League Two champions have also won 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle in the first round of the Carling Cup, but in their two away league games they have lost 3-0 at Oldham Athletic and drawn 3-3 at Bournemouth.

Charlton are one place above Notts in the League One table, and Davies, who scored twice in the Magpies' 4-0 win against Yeovil Town at Meadow Lane, is relishing playing at The Valley.

He said: "We worked hard to win promotion last season to earn the right to play in bigger stadiums.

"There is a huge incentive for us to go there and win.

"It's a nice big pitch and that will suit the way we like to pass the ball. And if we play like we did against Yeovil, we can get a good result.

"We're under no illusions about how tough it will be. They are a good team to test ourselves against."

After playing eight games in the opening four weeks of the season, Davies believes the Notts players will benefit from no midweek game this week.

"It has been a hectic start to the season and a few of us were tiring in the last ten minutes against Yeovil," he said. "We will be refreshed and ready for Charlton."

Davies believes fellow goalscorer Craig Westcarr will be a threat once against the Addicks.

"Westy has been brilliant He's doing really well at the minute," added Davies.

"He's another one of us who is getting fitter and stronger with every game. And if he gets a chance, he scores.

"He's played up front for a lot of his career and it's good to see him doing so well and having such a good start."

    “"A club steeped in ora" - hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

    I suppose that the word you were looking for was 'aura'.
    You can have an aura, but you can't be steeped in aura (or ora).
    If you must attempt to be a pseudo-intellectual, why not use phrases that actually exist?
    Like 'steeped in tradition', for instance, which also applies to Notts.”

    “Steve Notts;

    Forget about Doughty leaving Forest! for him It would be like walking away from his grave - Impossible!

    This Is a guy with Forest In his blood, my brother was there last season fitting state of the art trophy cabinets costin a multitude of thousands.(we have a lot of trophy's you know)

    He said Mr doughty - like my brother had been a supporter since he can remember breathing! these stories are just to keep the masses talking about the "Super Reds" this Is advertising a product! a product that other's are getting ready to snap-up should Mr Doughty decide he's had enough, but he hasn'nt!

    Now had the same happenned to Forest that happenned to Nutts,----well! who knows what he would have done? probably topped himself that such a well known club through-out the World should get Into a position of something simlar to a "Micky-Mouse" club, (like your's) then yes I could see him leaving.

    No our future Is bright under Mr Doughty's wing, a vibrant club that Is bigger than any-one person! a club steeped In ora! a club that has entertained the masses! I rest my case, & hope that one day the Nutts Clownty can reach just half the heights that the Reds have done over many yrs.

    In "KING BILLY" we trust! U REDS! U REDS!”

    “Of course we've earned the right- just look at last season. Ok we've had a shaky start this season, but with all those changes then it was always bound to take time.

    Micky- think you ought to concern yourself with poor old Forest. No wins and the chairman is condsidering pulling out! All that money forest owe him!

    YOU PIES!!”

    “in ray, we trust;

    We WON'T be playing Forest next season, because as we go up, they will be going in the other direction.
    And they have chiefly their No Acquisitions Panel to thank for that.
    Fortunately, we don't have such a ludricrous institution at Notts.”

    “All I can see here lads Is a sound beating! dont get me wrong I would love you to get a consolation goal but just cant see It!

    Still the way your player's have come out of the woodwork since winning agains poor opposition, you'd think you were top of the league!

    A lot has to be learned by both the player's the Manager & the supporters regarding the league your In, we had the very dubious honour of spending a very short time In the 1stdiv, at a time when the teams In It were of a much higher calibre! not like wot youve got there now! Oh yes Its true I mean - come on you beat Yeovil, yet although we got three past themwhen we played them, they were good enough to come back & win!

    Can any-one remember that? YES!! I hear you say? oh well you can see where I'm coming from cant you? the quality Is just not there no more Its all In the Championship, It seems to follow us around!

    In "KING BILLY" we trust! U REDS! U REDS!”
