Cyclists ought to pay the price
THE subject of fining motorists for encroaching into the boxes set aside for cyclists at traffic lights fills me with rage.
When did you last see a cyclist waiting in the box patiently for the lights to change before setting off across a junction?
In my experience, they are usually wheedling their way over against the lights or they have jumped off and become pedestrians pushing a cycle. Often going on to the pavement to the detriment of pedestrians.
Then we have the vexed questions of cyclists who refuse to use the very expensive system of cycle tracks that criss-cross the area.

The one on Wilford Lane being a prime example.
I have often been on a bus that has to slow down behind an oblivious idiot in Lycra who is using the road instead of the obvious track immediately to his left.
In fact, I remark to my wife if we see a cyclist using the track.
Fining these fools would be just as good a source of revenue as having yet another go at the motorist.
