POLICE will target yobs and robbers after crime figures showed Notts had improved but was still third worst for crime in the country.

The force recorded 109 crimes per 1,000 people, compared to a national average of 88. Only Greater Manchester Police and the Met fared worse.

But Deputy Chief Constable Howard Roberts (pictured) said the force had improved dramatically in the last six years, and was "proud" of his force's performance.

"We have seen crime in the county fall almost 8% in the last twelve months, meaning there have been almost 9,700 fewer victims of crime," he said.

"We have also bucked the trend when it comes to burglary and vehicle crime.

"These figures go to the end of March. In the three months since, crime has dropped 10% and burglary by 16.6%.

"We intend to apply even more resources to tackling the robbery rise and have already locked up some of the teams of robbers.

"Anti-social behaviour is another key issue. We are placing a greater emphasis on the identification of repeat victims and repeat offenders, because we know from our own research that this is a big issue."

“Unlike you my world revolves around lots of things, my employment is research, but when do you bother to let facts get in your way.
Or does your life revolve around your work, oh and posting your usual detritus as if you bothered to look at how many people actually agree with you it would probably be less than 1%, now theres a factually based interesting statistic for you.”

“If 10,000 less victims accounts for an 8% drop in 12 months and the crime rate has been falling over the past few years at a similar rate just what was the crime rate say 6 years ago?
Are we counting the crime rate as number of victims now and if so what about victims of multiple crime?
Over to you Ms Hodson as you are the City's first mathematician Police Chief.”

“Oh, braggart. Your real world involves 'research', doesn't it?

    Ha ha.

That must be why you only ever post here under your current name in the early hours of the morning, when all that 'research' is going on!”

“What a ridiculous idea. It has no merit whatsoever.

It's the sort of 'idea' that could only come from someone who works in 'research' with no idea about the real world!”

“America have a good idea they elect the police chief, maybe its time we did it because we could get rid of the idiots not running the show. Results = reelection.”

Well let me tell you this Mr Dep Chief Constable you may be pleased but im not and I bet a lot of people here in Nottingham will agree with me.

If we are the 3rd worst then we the people of Nottingham demand you and your high ranking offical friends at the force should not just make promises we have all heard many times before but fulfill your duties and protect us tax payers and protect the old and the young alike.
Make this City safe and clean after all we do PAY YOUR WAGES dont we.
I know that your hands are tied by the Courts rulings but first you have to catch the crooks.
What would be best for the publc in an Ideal world would be to form Peoples Courts where members of the public dcecide the punishments for the crimes.
Not overpaid Judges who live in safe expensive not in the real world house's.
Its time for a change and its well overdue.
