A MINUTE'S silence was held at a football match dedicated to the memory of two teenagers killed in a car crash.

Players at Southwell City Under 19s wanted to celebrate the lives of James Moodie and Max Dixon at a home match with West Bridgford Colts.

The two youngsters, both 17, were passengers in a Peugeot which was in collision with another car in Fishpool Road, Blidworth, on September 16.

Max, of Main Street, Farnsfield, and James, of Main Street, Kirklington, were both pronounced dead at King's Mill Hospital.

Under 19s manager Andy Haynes said: "This is a tight-knit community. They are local lads. They have all grown up together. It is tragic.

"This is a gesture from the lads in our squad. Two of them knew the lads very well."

A collection was taken to help fund a memorial which friends want to be put up at The Minster School.

A tribute written in the match programme read: "Southwell City Under 19s would like to dedicate tonight's match to two very good school friends, James Moodie and Max Dixon, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident last week.

"Both boys will be sadly missed but never forgotten."
