A CRACKER appeal raised nearly £300 for charity.

Radcliffe-On-Trent Junior School collected crackers throughout December.

A total of 569 crackers were brought in by parents, pupils and staff and all of them were sold – raising nearly £300.

The money will be donated to the school's two chosen charities, When You Wish Upon A Star and the Encephalitis Society.

A spokesman for the school said: "We are so grateful for the support of the parents and I know the children were really keen to support the charities.

"We would like to say a huge thanks to the committee and parents who helped."

A cracker event on December 9, which included musical performances from pupils, also raised more than £800.
