Court info sent to wrong address
A STUNNED householder said he couldn't believe it when he received a bundle of court summonses in the post – papers containing other people's personal details.
The package was supposed to go to Nottingham Magistrates' Court.
Instead it was sent to Stuart Zabinec's home in Harewood Avenue, Bulwell. Inside were summonses for 51 people who had not paid their TV licence.
They included the names, addresses, dates of birth and in some cases employment details for the defendants, who all had to appear at court on December 16.
"I couldn't believe it," said Mr Zabinec, 18. "I opened the package and all these court papers dropped out.
"I thought it was a massive case file against me. But then I looked closer and saw it had the names of different people on it.
"The funny thing was there was a piece of paper saying 'With Compliments' on it."
One of the summonses was linked to Mr Zabinec's address.
Mr Zabinec said he had to sign for the package when it was delivered last Saturday in spite of querying the address on the front of it, which wrongly read Nottingham Magistrates' Court, Harewood Avenue, Bulwell.
Mr Zabinec added: "I said 'Does this really look like a magistrates' court?' But I had to sign it and take it. I just didn't know what to do with it really. I was getting ready for work – and suddenly I had this turn up at my doorstep."
The incident comes on the back of several high-profile cases where personal details were mislaid.
"It is quite worrying really how something such as this can happen," said Mr Zabinec, who is a mechanic. "It worries me how your personal details can be sent anywhere. I am going to be taking the package to the Post Office."
A spokesperson for TV Licensing said: "We would like to apologise for this incident, which occurred as a result of a human error at Capita, which deals with this process for TV Licensing. We are contacting the people who were affected to let them know and offer a personal apology. An internal investigation has been launched."

“Mail being delivered to the wrong households is a common thing and it has happened to me several times in the last few months. On two occasions they were linked to a local solicitors. The address was correct but NO POST CODE and thats from legal departments.
It's common for me to recieve mail that has my address on it, but not my name and mail that has a completely different address. Sometimes it has a senders names so it can be returned. When there is no "Return to Sender" on it, I take it to work and give it to our Postman but normally write on the envelope "TRY SPECSAVERS!!”
