Couple slept in car overnight to guard home after crash
A COUPLE spent the night in their car after another vehicle ploughed into their home.
They had just got back from shopping with their daughter when a red car careered into their home in Southwold Drive, in Wollaton, at 5.35pm on Sunday, damaging the entrance and staircase.

'Like thunder': Structural engineers were called to secure the house in Southwold Drive, in Wollaton, on Bank Holiday Monday.
A red Saab 900 and a black Peugeot 206 collided in Southwold Drive and the Saab then ploughed into the house.
Police parked a car outside the house overnight to deter would-be thieves but the last officer left at midnight.
The couple, who did not want to be named, said they slept in their car to guard their property until structural engineers turned up yesterday to secure the house.
The woman said: "It's been terrible. We slept in the car all night.
"We have other people's clothes as we can't get upstairs. At the time it was like thunder. You assume it is something on the road.
"Then there was a car in the door and two people getting out and air bags and things."
Jack Wilson has campaigned for the last five years for an island on Western Boulevard to stop drivers turning into a blind spot.
He said: "I saw a red flash going across the road. The car hit the sign on the corner, the railings, the fence, and then took the front of the house out.
"We heard a really loud boom and a little girl scream."
Notts Police say no-one has been arrested in connection with the incident and that an investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information should call Notts Police on 0300 300 9999 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

“NEP, that road isn't in Wollaton. I've always considered it to be Beechdale and I'm not sure many others would consider it to be Wollaton (apart from estate agents).”

“Can't confirm but a friend just told me it was two cars racing each other in which case they should throw the book and each of the idiots and ban them from driving for life! Jack Wilson is living in cloud cuckoo land wanting an island there, as it's not far from the Beechdale road lights and just before the big island where Wolaton road crosses it before you carry onto Middleton Boulevard”
