THE Notts Girls' U16 squad's match against Lancashire in the ESFA County Championship quarter-finals was postponed for the third time on Tuesday and will now take place after half-term.

The Notts Schools' FA County Cup competitions have also been delayed but the good progress made last term and in early January means that several semi-finalists are in place. In the Year 8 (U13) boys' competition, Minster School from Southwell have beaten Selston 2-1 after a first-round bye, Brunts (Mansfield) 5-0 and Tuxford 3-1 to become the first through to the last four.

Other schools through are West Bridgford thanks to victories over Quarrydale (Sutton) 6-1 and Chilwell 6-0 and Harry Carlton (East Leake). With the latter having scored eight goals in their two matches against Joseph Whitaker (Rainworth) and South Notts Academy, a high-scoring quarter-final between the two is in prospect.

Nottingham Emmanuel are also through after beating Rushcliffe 7-2, Garibaldi (Forest Town) 9-0 and Samworth Academy (Mansfield) 7-0.

In the Fred Riddell Shield, the U13 competition for girls, two Arnold schools, Arnold Hill and Redhill, will meet in one semi-final after big quarter-final wins, the former 7-0 against Kimberley and Redhill 8-0 over Dukeries.

Through to the last eight are West Bridgford and Eastwood.

At U12 level, the Reprotec Shield has seen Nottingham University Samworth Academy (NUSA) through to the semi-final after a 2-1 win over West Bridgford, a 7-4 victory at Arnold Hill and a 2-1 success over namesake Samworth Academy from Mansfield.

NUSA have a promising side and recently reached the final of the ESFA Area D indoor 5-a-side competition.

Other schools through to the last eight are Tuxford, Ashfield and Orchard Grove Valley (Worksop)

In the corresponding girls' competition, the West Bridgford Colts Shield, Arnold Hill are the only semi-finalists so far, having scored 32 goals in their three games to date.

They will meet the winners of West Bridgford and Redhill in the semi-final.
