County Conservatives blame Labour for schools missing out on rebuild money
CONSERVATIVES at Notts County Council have blamed Labour councillors for the county missing out on new schools
Eleven Notts schools have been affected by the Government's decision to scrap the Building Schools for the Future programme..
Councillor Philip Owen, cabinet member for children and young people, claimed if the Labour party had "got its act together" when it controlled the council, Notts schools would have been built by now.
The council's first application to become part of the fifth wave of the national scheme was turned down in 2005 because it was not considered ready to deliver. It was accepted on wave six in 2008.
He added the "overly bureaucratic" programme had cost the council almost £3m in procurement costs.
Labour's Joyce Bosnjak, former children and young people portfolio holder, said Tory councillors were involved with the 2005 application. The £3m was spent with the expectation of receiving £150m.

“Observer that's not true; the only reason this coalition was cobbled together was because the Lib Dems ripped up their manifesto. No wonder they're only on 13% in the Polls.
And if the economy is in such a mess then why can we afford the new accademies?
And Bulgaria, I'm sorry to hear that. I'm afraid I've had it with all this 'freedom' agenda. Does that include lifting the ban on prison parties?

“"And how is potencially putting construction workers out of work good for the economy, for jobs, and thus the deficit? "
Oh dear - someone didn't realise this was happening in the so called "boom years". Ever met anyone British looking for a job who gets unfairly tarred with the brush of idleness of many of our "social people"?”

“"I notice that Mr Owen's got nothing to say about the absolute mess that Michael Gove made of announcing the decision. " Mr Sensible, not like the Previous Prime Minister who "saved the world"?

“Irrespective of who's to blame, the previous administration have left the economy in a dreadful state. This year, locally and nationally, the electorate voted for significant change. Let us accept such, and work together,
thus getting the country back on its feet again!....
Together, we can make things happen..... Now is the time to prove such!..... Stop whinging, ALL OF YOU!!.”

“I think there will be a lot of this over the coming months - If results are up this year will he take the credit? Of course. If result are down this year will he blame the previous administration? Probably. He is right about the unnecessary level of bureaucracy of BSF though.
Finally, a little bit of amusement for Friday night
