THE length of time children in Notts spend in care has reduced, according to new figures.

Adoption performance figures released by the Government yesterday show Notts County Council has cut the time a child spends in authority care before moving to an adoptive family from 695 days to 642 days.

The figures cover three years from 2009 to 2012.

The council's committee chairman for children and young people's services, Councillor Philip Owen, said: "We're delighted with this progress, which puts us broadly in line with the Government's target of 21 months, or 639 days, on this performance indicator."
