BROXTOWE Borough Council has won a prestigious award for the quality of its parks and open spaces.

The authority picked up the Most Improved Performer Award for Parks, OpenSpace and Horticultural Services at the Association of Public Services Excellence Performance Network Awards.

The Mayor of Broxtowe, Councillor Margaret Handley, met the council's parks and environment team at Hall Om Wong Park in Kimberley to present them with the award and congratulate them on their hard work.

Judges praised the council for maintaining high service standards and increasing the total area of land maintained, despite reduced budgets. They also commended high customer satisfaction rate, reduced sickness levels, the play value of play areas and the number of local nature reserves.
