Cotterill wants a defender, after landing Wolves man
STEVE Cotterill will today continue his efforts to sign a defender to bolster Nottingham Forest's fight against relegation.
And the Reds may be tempted to sell striker Patrick Bamford to Chelsea to bolster their limited budget.
-

New signing: Wolves' Adlene Guedioura, right, challenges Everton's Tim Cahill.
Wes Morgan has completed a £1m move to Leicester City. But, crucially, the fee will be paid in two installments over the next six months.
And much of the first £500k payment has already been eaten up by the deals to bring Greg Cunningham and Marlon Harewood to the club.
The club last night also signed midfielder Adlene Guedioura on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season.
Cotterill is still desperate to sign a defender, with his back four already critically short of depth.
And the manager was last night meeting with the club's hierarchy to discuss the option of selling 18-year-old striker Bamford, who is the subject of a bid from Chelsea.
"There has been a bid for him from Chelsea, it is for £1.5m," said Cotterill."The problem we have is that Patrick has been offered a couple of contracts now.
"And I am not sure Patrick will sign a new contract at Nottingham Forest.
"We are going to have a meeting to decide where that goes. What materialises, we will find out shortly."
And Cotterill confirmed that Forest are still working on a tight budget, despite the sale of Morgan.
"There is only so much money that comes in (from Leicester) now, there is another chunk in six months time," said Cotterill. "Out of the bit we have now, there is money that has been spent to bring in Cunningham and Harewood. So what we have left is very little. Very little.
"We have signed Guedioura. He is a midfield player, so it is not like for like. We did need another midfield player.
"He can play either side of midfield and gives us some flexibility.
"Guy Moussi has had to play in the back four for us, which is not ideal. But I felt I needed another midfield player with some energy in there."
A defender is still very much a priority, however, said Cotterill.
"Signings do not always drop in the order that you would like them to," he said. "Ideally, as Wes leaves, you would like a central defender to fall in to place. That has been very difficult, to get another central defender in – or even another defender of any type.
"There is a shortage of them, at this moment in time. Or at least a shortage of players who are available.
"Trying to get away with the defenders that we have had has been nonsensical. We can't get away with that. We have to try very hard to get somebody, before the window closes."

“Well if we can't escape relegation we can at least watch some light entertainment about one of the players brought in to help us out.

“I'm beginning to wonder whether any of the out of contract players are going to want to resign and play for this man, even on better terms. I wouldn't. I would be off.”

“Reddogj - Agree with you entirely - I have completely lost faith in Steve Cotterill. I expected a bit of trial and error to start with, but even after all this time, he obviously doesn't have a clue. Last night's selection was just idiotic and self destructive. Perhaps a shake up at the back might help our defense, but where are the goals going to come from. Why is it that just as Reid and Tudgay appeared to be forming some sort of useful understanding, he drops them both. FRANK CLARKE - where are you ? Are you just a puppet or are you going to do something about this debacle ? Where's your self respect ?”

“PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME HOW COTTERILL IS STILL THE MANAGER OF NOTTINGHAM FOREST????
First the positives:
Forest cut tickets to £10 and we get a very respectable 23,500 on a cold Tuesday (even though we haven't won OR SCORED in six home games). Good move by the club though re prices.
We also bring in 4 Players in January - Harewood, Higginbotham, Wooten, Guedioura all of which (apart from Harewood) look half decent, WHY DIDN'T THE BOARD SUPPORT BD IN JANUARY'S WHEN WE WERE 2ND ????
Laschelle's finally gets his chance.
Now for the negatives:
Cotterill is still the manager! THAT'S IT!!!!
I was at the game once again last night and am bewildered by Cotterill's tactics (If he has any); His substitutions and especially his after match Comments.
Why play 1 up front (especially an out of sorts Miler) at home when we need goals and a win?
Why take our only creative player off (McGugan) when we are chasing the game AND ONCE AGAIN REVERT TO HOOFING PAST THE MIDFIELD?
Why wasn't McCleary taken off straight away after his BRAINLESS ridiculous rugby tackle that gave away the penalty? He was also rubbish anyway.
Why was Anderson allowed to stay on after another shocker and being at fault for letting their guy get the cross in for the first goal as well as losing his marker time after time?
IT'S GOT TO BE TIME TO GET COTTERILL OUT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE, THE PLAYERS ARE OBVIOUSLEY NOT PERFORMING FOR HIM, HIS TACTICS ARE WOEFUL, HIS SUBSTITUTIONS MADNESS, HIS POST MATCH COMMENT DELUDED AND TAKE US FOR FOOLS!
I was there AGAIN last night supporting the Club and after the loss Cotterill claimed we had enough chances to win the game? What game was he watching???
He also made a sly dig at Laschelle's which I thought was a disgrace, He said that 'If we would have had Wes Morgan in the back 4 rather than an inexperienced lad like Laschelle's then he would have been wiser to the movement of Rodriguez!" WELL DONE COTTERILL destroy a young lads confidence from the off and harp on about a player who is no longer here (Just as you did Bamford's confidence) with your 'he's not ready yet let him sign and then we'll send him out on loan'!!!!
THIS IDIOT HAS LOST THE PLOT AND SHOULDN'T BE LET ANYWHERE NEAR A FOOTBALL TEAM ESPECIALLY THE DOUBLE EUROPEAN CUP WINERS.
I took my boy again last night and it's getting very hard keeping him interested when his team hasn't even scored for 547 Minutes at home!
The club not only risks Division 3 uncertainty AGAIN (By the way we are the only European Cup winners to ever have been in the third tier of their country) and we also risk losing a generation of fans because the youngsters will get bored watching Forest 0 scores.
GET COTTERILL OUT NOW AND GIVE O'DRISCOLL THE JOB (would prefer BD but isn't going to happen)
Because if we leave this fool in charge then we will get embarrassed at The Sheep Dip next week and be relegated before April!
PLEASE FRANK SACK COTTERILL BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!”

“SC's interview after the pathetic game last night just shows to me that he's given up , we have to sort the defence out to stop leaking goals first and foremost , yes too right Steve but not a mention of our useless forwards , 3 months without a goal at home is nothing short of scandulous , anyone else would have been sacked by now , also why play 5 across the middle and one up front AT HOME , why when defending corners we have every player back in our box with no outlet for us if it's cleared , and can someone please tell me what Miller & Moussi contributed to last nights game they were shocking , has Miller actually played a full 90 mins since he's been here , sorry but i'm now resigned to the fact that we're going down and yes i'll blame SC he 's the one who picks and sets up the side to play a certain way each game and it just isn't working and he doesn't have the know how to change things in game .”
